Joe Bob Brigg's Profoundly Disturbing Films
Oh, Joe Bob Briggs, where have you gone? I really, really do miss those awesome late saturday nights when you hosted MonsterVision on TNT. Your quips and trivia in between the commercial breaks of the film were quite entertaining and it was obvious you were having a blast hosting cool airings of THE MONSTER CLUB and BILLY JACK. You were ripped off when TNT dumpd you for no apparent reason and dumb decisions like that are a major reason why TNT is a mere shell of itself.
Joe Bob has been around quite a while. I even remember when his newsletter THE JOE BOB REPORT was named WE ARE THE WEIRD.
I also remember purchasing a phenomenal book you wrote in 2004 entitled PROFOUNDLY DISTURBING films that changed history. This was a great look at some real cutting edge films such as TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and DEEP THROAT that provided placing these films in their proper historical context. I remember the content of the book not so much endorsing the films, but rather looking at them and pointing out the incredible impact that they have had on cinema history...even though their profound impact has often been ignored by cinema historians. So, Joe Bob, I am going to recommend your film to all my readers because it is that great of a read and one of my fav cinema books. I have to apologize for not knowing that you released a sequel entitled PROFOUNDLY EROTIC films. I really need to pick that one up.
